Soochow University , founded as early as in 1900, has been enjoying great prestige home and abroad for its law school. Thus, once regarded as the cradle of lawyers and judges, Soochow University has cultivated many prestigious law scholars. Its graduates were Wu Jingxiong, Li Haopei , Ni Zheng, Li Haopei, Yang Raolong, who were once backbones in the legal field.Soochow University got name changed as Jiangsu Teaching College in 1952, when all the universities were undergoing reconstructuring of faculty and academy. In 1982, Jiangsu Teaching College renamed Soochow University and law school was re-established. In 1986, law school of Soochow University was extended. In 2003, a Chinese American Wang Jialian, son of the schoolmate WangJjian, donated fund to construct a teaching building in the law school, renamed as Wang Jian Law School of Soochow University.
